About TASSW
The Tennessee Association of School Social Workers is a professional association, having recently celebrated the silver anniversary of TASSW’s inception in 1978. Before NASW’s School Social Work, before Southern Council, and before SSWAA, there was chartered the Tennessee Association of School Social Workers whose purpose is, as follows, TO:
UNITE
in one association all persons engaged in the practice
of social work in the schools or in social work education
ENCOURAGE
The interpretation and promotion of school social work
COORDINATE
school social work activities
SHARE
ideas, techniques and research which will help promote
professional competency of social work in educational settings
DISSEMINATE
information and focus public attention on issues
that affect the educational development of all students
FOSTER
cohesiveness among the membership and to further
the goals and objectives of the Association
We, TASSW members, are even more resolved in the forthcoming years
to continue with renewed dedication its purpose as outlined above.
